Colorado city leader dies after collapsing on mountain hike: 'Loss for our city'

A Colorado city leader died Friday after collapsing while hiking a popular 14,000-foot mountain as fellow hikers tried to revive him before first responders arrived, authorities said.

Englewood Mayor Pro Tem Joe Anderson, 45, died Friday morning while hiking Quandary Peak in Summit County, according to city and county officials.

Summit County sheriff’s deputies responded around 6:45 a.m. to a report of a hiker who had passed out and was not breathing on the lower slopes of Quandary Peak, Summit Daily reported.
