Ready to resign over statehood demand, says Puducherry CM Rangasamy

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy expressed readiness to resign for statehood. He reminded the Centre that the Union Territory cannot continue without powers. Opposition leader also called for a unified protest to press the statehood demand. Assembly members announced they too would quit their posts to support the cause. Statehood is considered absolutely necessary for Puducherry's speedy development.
