India gets ready to build its own Samsung, Vivo or Xiaomi

India has emerged as a major global smartphone manufacturing hub, but it is yet to build a home-grown brand of comparable scale. A new Rs 62,500 crore government scheme aims to bridge that gap by incentivising Indian-owned brands, design, R&D and domestic sourcing, with companies such as Lava positioned to benefit.
