Iran says new sanctions threatened by 'desperate' US will fail

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has dismissed threatened US sanctions as a sign of desperation, insisting they will fail to defeat Tehran. The warning comes as the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively blocked, disrupting oil shipments and raising prices. Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir is also due to visit Tehran.
