Yet, as the luster of silver faded, the population sharply declined over the next sixteen years, prompting many to seek fortunes in Bodie, California. Now, what remains of Aurora is a ghostly echo of the past, featuring crumbling structures and an old cemetery, recalling its fleeting glory.
