Neeraj Chopra missed out on Lausanne Diamond League gold by just nine centimetres after Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage threw 88.14m to beat his 88.05m effort. The defeat was Chopra's third against Pathirage this season, but the silver medal gives him valuable points in the Diamond League Final qualification race.
