16th-century shipwreck of a merchant vessel discovered off the coast of Ramatuelle in France accidentally when navy researchers scanned the seafloor in routine sonar investigations has led researchers to a ship lying 8,200 feet below the sea. Called Camarat 4, the wreck dates to the 16th century and contains ceramics, anchors, cannons and cauldrons. It is the deepest shipwreck found in French territorial waters.
