Japan's newest five-star hotel was once a jail for 109 years. Here's how much one night stay costs here

A former juvenile prison in Nara, Japan, built in 1908 and used until 2017, has been transformed into a five-star Hoshinoya hotel. Around 500 former prison cells have been combined into 48 luxury suites, while original brickwork and other historic features remain. The hotel, which opened in July, charges roughly $317 to $1,114 per night, depending on the suite.
