Researchers at Kiel University in Germany have spent more than a decade studying CAU-10-H, a porous material capable of capturing water vapour from relatively dry air. The material belongs to the Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) family and can begin collecting moisture at room temperature when humidity reaches just 18%. Heating it to around 70°C releases the captured water, potentially allowing solar or waste heat to power the process.
