Chamoli hydro project work halted, workers evacuated after land subsidence triggers tunnel water seepage

Construction at NTPC’s 520 MW Tapovan-Vishnugad hydroelectric project in Chamoli was halted and workers evacuated after land subsidence created a small cavity in the main tunnel, causing mild water seepage. The incident occurred on August 15 in the Tapovan-Jyotirmath area, officials said, with work stopped in the affected section.
