Independence Day 2026: PM Modi says ‘no-go’ coastal waters turned into ‘go-ahead’ exploration areas

India has opened most coastal waters for offshore exploration to discover new hydrocarbon reserves and strengthen energy security. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said ₹85,000 crore has been allocated to accelerate exploration under the Samudra Manthan initiative and reduce dependence on imported energy.
