Treat, not trick, data centre water

India faces a significant potable water shortfall while treating only a fraction of its sewage. Treated sewage, currently discharged into waterways, offers a viable water source for industries. Data centres, while demanding, use a small percentage of national water consumption. Pricing treated water and enforcing reuse policies can transform liabilities into revenue. Municipalities should implement pricing and mandates for industrial water use.
