Independence Day 2026: President Murmu approves 78 gallantry awards

India Independence Day 2026: President Droupadi Murmu approved seventy-eight gallantry awards for defence and police personnel. These prestigious awards included nine Kirti Chakras and nineteen Shaurya Chakras for bravery. Several personnel received these honors posthumously for their exceptional service and sacrifice. The President also approved eighty-nine Mention-in-Despatches for armed forces members.
