Warren’s ancestry saga roars back after Dem ally touts Native Senate first: ‘Arrows fired’

Minnesota Democratic Senate nominee Peggy Flanagan is pitching donors on the prospect of becoming the first Native American woman to serve in the U.S. Senate — drawing attention to one of her prominent endorsers, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, whose past claims of Native American identity became a yearslong political controversy.

"In almost 250 years, there’s never been a Native woman serving in the US Senate. It’s time to change that," the email reads. "I am Ojibwe and a proud member of the White Earth Nation.
