US turns decades-old radioactive waste into nuclear power technology that could keep underwater drones running for nearly 30 years

America is turning decades-old strontium-90 radioactive waste from Oak Ridge into a potential source of long-lasting nuclear power. Zeno Power is working with the Pentagon to develop seabed power nodes that could keep underwater drones, sensors and autonomous vehicles running for years without cables, support ships or regular resupply. The same technology could also support future lunar missions.
