Upset SC calls for special courts in Manipur violence; directs agencies to expedite pending investigations
The Supreme Court has proposed setting up special courts to conduct day-to-day trials in cases linked to the Manipur ethnic violence, while directing the CBI and Special Investigation Teams (SITs) to speed up pending investigations. The court noted that investigations have progressed slowly, with charge sheets filed in only 301 of over 3,000 cases being probed by SITs.
