Sweden's powerful Vasa warship sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. The ship was found in 1956 after a two-year search. Divers raised the Vasa from the seabed in 1961 after 333 years. Preservation efforts took seventeen years to stabilize the ancient timber. Today, the Vasa is a central exhibit in Scandinavia's most visited museum.
