AAIB flags air traffic controllers' procedural lapses in airprox incident; suggests measures to AAI

An airprox incident involving two Boeing 777 aircraft occurred in Indian airspace on March 24, 2024. The probe agency recommended Airports Authority of India improve controller watch briefings. Procedural lapses and over-reliance on automated systems contributed to the serious incident. The agency also stressed sensitizing controllers about safety-critical Standard Operating Procedures. Strengthening on-the-job training supervision protocols was also advised by the bureau.
