Vande Mataram bill introduced in Rajya Sabha: What the proposed law seeks to change

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill in the Rajya Sabha seeking to criminalise insults to or obstruction of Vande Mataram. The legislation proposes amending the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, to give the national song statutory protection similar to the national anthem, flag and Constitution.
