Assam flood fury: Death toll crosses 40 as over 6.53 lakh people affected across 11 districts

Assam's flood death toll has now surpassed forty people as heavy rains continue. Over six lakh people are affected across eleven districts, with Sivasagar being the worst hit. Water levels in the Brahmaputra river and its tributaries are steadily rising. The chief minister visited a relief camp and called the situation serious. An inter-ministerial team will be sent to Assam soon.
