India's 7,000-km bullet rail plan gets homegrown signalling push

India is developing its own high-speed rail signalling protocol, the Bharat Train Control System. This system will be tailored for Indian conditions and reduce foreign technology dependence. Designs and route plans for future bullet-train corridors are expected by mid-2027. The new protocol will be open-source and cost-effective for nationwide deployment. Domestic suppliers will benefit from the country's own high-speed train operation protocols.
