New power policy draft may reach Cabinet in August

The power ministry plans cabinet approval for a new electricity policy next month. This policy aims for higher per capita electricity consumption by 2030 and 2047. It proposes linking tariffs to inflation and recovering fixed costs through demand charges. The overhaul will also promote competition in electricity distribution networks.
