NGT directs recovery of Rs 2.65 crore from BHU over illegal felling of 33 trees
The National Green Tribunal ordered the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board to recover compensation. This directive concerns the illegal felling of thirty-three trees on Banaras Hindu University campus. The tribunal mandated the completion of recovery proceedings within three months. Banaras Hindu University had previously planted nine hundred seventy-eight saplings as compensatory afforestation. This environmental compensation amount totals over two crore sixty-five lakh rupees.
