Assam Assembly introduces UCC bill, third state after Uttarakhand, Gujarat

Assam has introduced its Uniform Civil Code bill in the Assembly. This move follows similar legislation passed in Uttarakhand and Gujarat. The bill aims to standardise marriage age, prohibit polygamy, ensure equal property rights for daughters, and regulate live-in relationships. Scheduled Tribes will be exempt from its provisions.
