Several Indian states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, have extended summer school holidays for 2026 amid intensifying heatwave conditions across the country. With temperatures crossing 45°C in several regions, authorities have prioritised student safety by either revising school timings or temporarily shutting schools to reduce exposure to extreme heat. In many areas, schools are expected to remain closed until late June or early July as the heatwave continues across North and Central India.
