Bullet train project: First tunnel boring machine cutterhead lowered at Mumbai's Vikhroli

The first Tunnel Boring Machine cutterhead has been lowered in Vikhroli for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project. This marks a significant step in constructing a 16-kilometer tunnel section. The project includes India's first undersea rail tunnel. These machines are the largest used for rail tunnel construction in the country. The TBM will excavate a 6-kilometer stretch towards Bandra Kurla Complex.
