Unemployment rate hits six-month high of 5.2% in April

India's unemployment rate climbed to 5.2% in April, a six-month peak. Rural joblessness saw an increase, while urban unemployment eased to a year-low. Urban female unemployment declined significantly. Youth unemployment edged up, with a sharp rise for young women. Labour force participation and the worker population ratio also saw a slight decrease.
