BREAKING: GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales Announces His Retirement from Congress as He Faces Expulsion Over Affair with Staffer Who Took Her Own Life

It appears there is a backroom deal going on.

Shortly after Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell resigned from Congress on Monday, GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales announced his retirement.

Rep. Gonzales was also facing expulsion from Congress after it was revealed he was having an affair with a staffer who died by suicide.

“There is a season for everything and God has a plan for us all. When Congress returns tomorrow, I will file my retirement from office. It has been my privilege to serve the great people of Texas,” Gonzales said.
