Anthony Rieber of Newsday reported that the Pirates-Mets 1 p.m. ET game on Thursday averaged 2.3 million viewers across NBC and Peacock, making it the most-watched Opening Day afternoon game on record. Although Mets fans missed GKR, millions of eyeballs on the team was not a bad thing in the resounding win.
