Pakistan ranked most polluted country in 2025, Cyprus ranked 85th

With a population of 231 million Pakistan was ranked the world’s smoggiest country in 2025, with concentrations of hazardous small particles known as PM2.5 up to 13 times higher than the recommended World Health Organization level, research showed on Tuesday.

Cyprus ranked as the 85th most polluted country, and the 12th of the 27 European Union countries. Romania, Poland and Greece were the three most polluted EU countries.
