Vehicle numbers surge in north, with sharp rise in electric and hybrid sales
The number of vehicles in the north has risen sharply over the past three years, according to a report by Kibris newspaper, citing data from authorities there.
The report said total vehicles increased by 86,131 between 2022 and 2025, reaching 447,592. Annual growth averaged 25,000 to 30,000 vehicles, with a record increase of 31,295 recorded in 2025 alone, representing an annual rise of around 7 per cent.
Sales of petrol and diesel vehicles rose by 18 to 21 per cent over the period.
