Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin seeks approval for space-based data centres after Amazon Leo challenged SpaceX proposal
Per Blue Origin, the project aims to ease the rising pressure on existing infrastructure on earth. Space-based data centres could reduce costs by not relying on solar energy, avoiding land use, and not depending on local power grids, it said. However, the move comes after Amazon’s satellite internet division, Amazon Leo, told the US Federal Communications Commission to reject SpaceX’s plan to deploy up to one million satellites as orbiting data centres.
