Iran has significantly expanded the geographical scope of the ongoing conflict by targeting the joint US-UK military base at Diego Garcia, located approximately 4,000 kilometres (2,500 miles) from Iranian shores. According to US officials cited by The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, Tehran launched two intermediate-range ballistic missiles, marking the longest-range strike attempt in the country’s history.
