CJI Surya Kant recuses from hearing on EC appointments law

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has opted to withdraw from hearing debates regarding a contentious 2023 law that affects the appointment of election commissioners. By citing concerns over conflict of interest, he has chosen integrity in the judiciary. The matter will now be transferred to a new bench for deliberation.
