Sri Lanka President Dissanayake denies US warplanes landing, asserts neutrality

Sri Lanka made headlines in early March by denying two American warplanes permission to land within its borders. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake emphasized the island’s desire to remain neutral against the backdrop of international pressures. The US had appealed for the aircraft to touch down at Mattala International Airport during their journey from Djibouti.
