‘Prolonged stay’: Hospital moves to evict woman who won’t leave her room

A hospital in Florida has resorted to a legal eviction process to remove a woman from her hospital room because she moved in last October and hasn’t left since.

The hospital is Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare and officials there filed a complaint just days ago against the woman, who was “formally discharged” on Oct. 6, 2025, but still occupies the room.

“TMH staff made repeated efforts to assist the defendant in safely completing discharge,” the complaint obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat said.
