Opposition backs TMC move to impeach CEC, but many MPs call it poll optics

Trinamool Congress MPs are collecting signatures for an impeachment motion against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The move is seen by some as a pre-West Bengal poll strategy. The process for the motion is expected to take months. Over 130 Lok Sabha and 50 Rajya Sabha Opposition MPs have signed. Neutral regional parties and AIMIM are not expected to join.
