I spent my 45th birthday traveling alone on the other side of the world. I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

My trip to Singapore helped me realize solo travel isn't always as wonderful as it seems.

• Flight delays due to weather derailed our plans, so I went on the trip I'd planned by myself.
• Many love solo travel, but I just kept wishing I could share my experiences with my husband.
