The calendar is crammed with commemorative holidays that are funny, or interesting or even ludicrous. Coming up May 8, we have No Socks Day. Hairball Awareness Day is marked the last Friday of every April. On April 23, we have Talk Like Shakespeare Day.
These are lighthearted days, not to be taken too seriously. Then there are those that are more important, like the National Day of Prayer recognized in early May every year.
