Larkspur bids farewell to downtown library

More than 150 people turned out for a tea party to say goodbye to Larkspur’s 113-year-old downtown library.

The sendoff on Wednesday was held by the nonprofit Friends of Larkspur Library. The library closed on Friday. The new library is set to open at 10 Rose Lane in late March.

Diana Saint James, president of the Friends of Larkspur Library board, said it was important to give the community an opportunity to gather and share memories of the downtown location. When the library opened in 1913, it had 256 books.
