BJP unlikely to field Pabitra Margherita against Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed that Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita will not contest the Jorhat assembly seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party will instead nominate a local candidate for the upcoming polls. Discussions are ongoing for the Sivasagar seat. The party plans to field a local candidate from Mahmora in 2026.
