Sharks reportedly trade pending UFA defenseman to Washington Capitals
SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks are trading defenseman Timothy Liljegren to the Washington Capitals, TSN’s Chris Johnston reported Friday morning.
It was not immediately clear what the Sharks were getting in return.
Liljegren, 26, is in the final year of a two-year, $6 million contract he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in June 2024. He was acquired by the Sharks from the Leafs on Oct. 30, 2024, for a 2025 third-round draft pick, a 2026 sixth-round draft pick, and veteran defenseman Matt Benning.
