Tennessee Tech fires John Pelphrey after 7 seasons

Tennessee Tech fired men's basketball coach John Pelphrey on Tuesday after seven seasons and a 79-138 record.

The Golden Eagles ended a 13-18 season with Saturday's 89-73 loss at Southeast Missouri State. With an 8-12 league record, they did not qualify for the Ohio Valley Conference tournament.

"We thank John for his service and commitment to our men's basketball program," athletic director Casey Fox said. "We felt it was the right time for a leadership change and a refocus for the men's basketball program.
