Anthropic made pitch in drone swarm contest during Pentagon feud

Anthropic submitted a proposal for a $100 million Pentagon prize to develop voice-controlled drone swarms, during negotiations with the Defense Department. Its Claude AI focused on coordinating drones under human oversight, avoiding autonomous targeting. Anthropic wasn’t selected, while SpaceX, xAI, and OpenAI-linked bids advanced. OpenAI later secured a separate Pentagon AI deal.
