Govt to change ‘distorted’ English names of places in Odisha

Odisha government is actively working to restore original Odia place names, urging district collectors to identify and propose corrections for English spellings distorted during British rule. This initiative aims to reinstate authentic names, with several districts already submitting proposals for changes like Barbil to Badbil and Rairakhol to Redhakhol, alongside suggestions for Cuttack and Berhampur.
