Study: PFAs Accelerate Aging in Men
Researchers in China have discovered that middle-aged men are vulnerable to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly called “forever chemicals” in terms of aging.
Using blood samples, the research team led by Xiangwei Li, a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, they found that the men in their 50s and up had higher sensitivity to PFAs, which can accellerate epigenetic aging, which is a measurement of one’s biological age, instead of chronilogical age.
