Utah's Nordic Valley Ski Area Can't Catch a Break, Temporarily Closes After Brief Reopening

Utah's ski resorts are experiencing a lackluster season in terms of total snowfall; that's no secret.

Resorts like Alta and Snowbird are accustomed to being at or near the top of snowiest ski resorts lists, but, at least as of late February 2026, they don't even crack the top ten.

These resorts, despite below-average snowfall, remain open due to high elevation, low sun angles, and a decent, if not significantly below-average, season-to-date snowfall of north of 200 inches. It's enough to keep the lights on, so to speak.
