Court remands 32-year-old father over suspected attempt on baby’s life

A district court in Oulu has remanded a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill his two-week-old son and assaulting the child’s mother.

The decision followed a custody hearing on Monday. Prosecutors must file charges by 7 May.

Police allege that the man assaulted his partner and then threw the infant onto a concrete floor in a stairwell of an apartment building near central Oulu in the early hours of Friday.
