Novato police report gunshot victim at Highway 37

A man with bullet wound was found in a vehicle on Highway 37 in Novato, police reported.

Around 3 p.m. Saturday, officers were notified about the victim seen on the south side of the highway between Highway 101 and Atherton Avenue.

Lt. Alan Bates reported the 50-year-old Novato resident sustained several gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

The shooter remained at large Sunday. Bates said the shooting likely happened while the vehicle was driving on the highway.
