CBSE Class 10 exams 2026: Miss first paper and you may be marked ‘essential repeat’; here's what it means

CBSE has made it compulsory for all Class 10 students to take the first board examination. This is part of a new policy starting in 2026. Students must attempt at least three subjects. Failing to do so will result in an 'essential repeat' status. The second exam offers a chance to improve scores in select subjects.
